In case this is your first time on any of The Mind Lab platforms, let me introduce myself. Again, I’m Emily and a senior in highschool right now, almost about to graduate. So crazy! I began my podcast after finding a passion for the sciences and seeing the lack of advocacy within the world of teen mental health struggles. This got me thinking to using my voice to create a podcast to break down the science behind these various mental illnesses Through The Mind Lab, I aim to bridge the gap between complex scientific concepts and everyday experiences, making neuroscience, psychology, and biology easy to understand for teens like me. This blog will be an extension of that mission, where I’ll dive deeper into the topics we cover on the podcast, bust myths about mental health, and explore the latest discoveries in brain science.

What makes The Mind Lab unique is its blend of scientific research and real, relatable experiences. As a teen myself, I understand the mental health struggles many of us face, and I want to provide clarity through science. My journey has been shaped by my advocacy work with the Clarity Children’s Guidance Center, where I saw firsthand the need for more open conversations about mental health, and through research internships that fueled my curiosity about the brain. This blog is where those experiences meet – a place where complex science is made accessible, and where every post is rooted in both knowledge and lived experience.
